Portuguese Water Boom

Portuguese Water Boom 

Made famous by Kynesie and then by the New World Champion Diarouga, this defensive water boom strategy has proven deadly time and time again.  

Discovery Age I

-Build 1 house

First Card: Schooners

-Age with 12-13 villagers

AGE UP: The Quartermaster - 400 wood

Transition I-II

-Put 2 villagers on food and the rest on wood

-One villager on food heards one hunt close to your TC

-Build a dock ASAP with a wood villager

-Start training fishing boats ASAP (keep production constant unless noted)

Colonial Age II

Second Card: 700 wood

-Queue villagers and put new ones on food on one TC and the villagers from your second TC to wood

-Build your town center by your first dock

-Build a trade post if the map permits, your second dock (within TC range), a house, and walls if needed

-Once you can, build your third dock and make houses as needed

Third Card: either colonial militia, 2 caravels, or rendering plant. (If you are being rushed, use 2 caravel if you need defense on the water. Use colonial militia to defend docks or your mian TC. Use rendering plant against anything but a rush to boost your eco.

-Once you send this card, start to put some fishing boats on whales (coin) to help you age (around 8).

-Grab your first fishing ship upgrade from the dock 

Fourth Card: 700 gold

-Aim to age up around 8:00 minutes.  

AGE UP: The Exiled Prince - fast age up

Transition II-III

-Build a stable, a market, and houses

-Finalize your fishing boat production (around 25-30 boats) and get your second fishing upgrade from the dock. You do not need to make any more fishing ships. 

Fortress Age III

-Build your town center by the water to help defend further if needed

Fifth Card: This completely depends on your situation. If you have the chance to go further in economy and infrastructure, send 1000 wood, if you need water support, send a frigate, if you need anti infantry then turn to 8 cassadors or 2 organ guns.

-Build a barracks or artillery foundry and build up your army composition!
