French Musk & Hussar Build

Originally built by Samwise12, this solid musketeer hussar strategy will be your go to age 2 build.

Discovery age I

  1. Split 4 CDB to collect all crates (prioritise food) and send 1 CDB to herd

  2. Queue first CDB and set TC to hunts

  3. Once 4 CDB finished collecting crates, send 2 to coin mine, 1 to chop trees, and 1 to build a market then chop trees. If coin start, then put none on mine and use 3 to chop trees instead. 

  4. When at 50 coin, move 2 CDB on mine to chop trees (disregard if coin start)

  5. Build house

  6. Research hunting dogs at market and put all CDB on hunts 

  7. First card: 3 CDB

  8. Keep queueing CDB for 14 in total

  9. AGE UP: The Quartermaster – 400 wood

Transition I – II

  1. Distribute CDB to gather coin and wood but keep 4 - 6 on hunts. Aim for 200+ wood and 200+ coin on age up

  2. Research placer mines at the market

  3. Remember to use 1 – 2 CDB on hunts for herding

Colonial age II

  1. Collect wood crates from age up and build barracks + stable

  2. Second card: 700 wood

  3. Move all CDB on wood to coin and hunts. Majority should be on hunts for CDB and military production

  4. Build 1 – 2 houses

  5. As soon as barracks/stable is built queue a batch of 5 musks and 5 hussars

  6. Third card: 4 CDB

  7. Fourth card: 700 coin 

  8. Queue another 1 - 2 batches of musks and hussars. Continue to produce more military if defending against rush or pushing early otherwise save for age up

  9. If still in age 2, send in 600 wood for houses/defences or alternatively send in cavalry hitpoints/attack cards if massing hussars

  10. Age up: The Marksman – 6 skirmishers if the opponent is focused on building heavy infantry of The Scout – 4 Hussars if light infantry 

Transition II – III

  1. Switch more CDB to coin mines but continue to prioritise food production

  2. If possible, take more control over the map, build trading posts for faster shipments, and wall if necessary

Fortress age III

  1. At this point it is feasible to switch the army to a skirm-goon composition. The 3 cavalry hitpoints/attack cards can be sent in to make the dragoons much stronger along with the 2 falconet shipment to make for a strong push against the enemy base

Further notes:

This build is good for a balance between aggressive and defensive gameplay. Great in team games where a friendly can produce units to counter any pike/goon units the enemy may have.

Early age 2 keep at least 1 hussar/musk in queue so that it can be increased to a batch of 5 if necessary, to defend against any sudden enemy rush. Focus on producing more hussars or more musks depending on team/enemy army compositions. 

When not attacking be sure to keep hussars active by raiding the opponent’s base and picking off any isolated vills. Remember to switch musks to melee mode to defend friendly skirms/cannons against heavy cav units.
